Fighting the rape crisis
Rape Crisis Cape Town has received a boost through the efforts of a number of players in the internet industry.
Based in Cape Town, the organisation now sports a Web site visible at www.rapecrisis.org.za which is a hub for those who require help, and for those who provide it. The site is regularly updated. Links to survivor support materials in multiple official languages can be accessed and printed out.
There are also links to contact details for rape counselling centres throughout South Africa. Survivors can contact these centres and receive free counselling, help with preparations for court cases and general support. Rape statistics and details on how individuals can help the anti-rape cause in South Africa have been made available on the site.
The Rape Crisis site is hosted free of charge by The Internet Solution, with free design and maintenance sponsored by Estrin Initiatives, and free dial-up access for Rape Crisis staff provided by SybaWeb Internet.
