Tuli Elephants

A website build specificall in support of the Tuli elephants has gone live at http://www.tuli.org.za. The site contains comprehensive links to the latest news articles, press releases, an outline of the Tuli elephant story, details on Mahout training methods, links to other sites and details of the horrific events at the now infamous small-holding near Brits. There are also links that detail what private individuals can do for the elephants.

By public demand africam have installed Webcams at the Brits facility so you can have up-to-the-minute live coverage of what's happening with the elephants.

The site is being hosted free of charge by The Internet Solution (IS), and design work was sponsored by Estrin Initiatives. South Africa's biggest search engine, Ananzi, has joined in the project, with a free banner ad on its home page. Private citizens Elsabe Burns and SJ Pretorius, who had created a small site of their own on a free web server abroad, approached these companines for help.

According ot Greg Payne, manager of IS Hosting, the site will enjoy the excellent support and high-speed access enjoyed by all the company's hosting clients. Says Ariella Estrin, owner of Estrin Initiatives: "The story of the Elephants angered me greatly, and when my company was approached to help with the design of the site I knew I had to help."

Marketing manager for I-Net Bridge, Kim Mountjoy, says I-Net was also looking for some way to help the elephants, and decided to pool its resources when it became aware of the site being developed. IS, Estrin and Ananzi all consider this part of their corporate responsibility to the broader SA community, and this online project fits snugly into their area of expertise.
